He must finish with more sacks, but his 14.2 percent pressure rate ranked third among interior D-linemen (minimum 100 pass-rush snaps). He can anchor more consistently in the run game, but he’s disruptive as a penetrator and flashes the ability to handle double teams. The trickiest part of Williams’ projection: He’s never played more than 50 percent of the snaps in a season while rotating as part of a deep D-line in Philadelphia.

But there’s still a great deal that remains unknown about the future of Barmore, who is recovering from blood clots and missed most of last season.

If Barmore is unable to play, then Williams will immediately take over that role as the pass-rushing interior defensive lineman. If Barmore does return, the Patriots will boast one of the best interior defensive lines in football. But that’s not to say this signing isn’t risky. Williams has been used mostly in obvious pass-rush situations. So this is a ton of money to give to a guy who was in a rotation last season.

The Seahawks added pick Nos. 52 and 92 by trading DK Metcalf and Geno Smith, but with only three other top-100 picks — Nos. 18, 50 and 82 — they don’t appear to be in position to draft one of the top quarterback prospects without trading up. This is why general manager John Schneider coveted a starting-caliber veteran.

Now they have Darnold, who completed 22 of 35 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Mike Macdonald’s Seahawks in Week 15. Darnold was the best possible option on the market to replace Smith, who was voted to a couple of Pro Bowls in Seattle and led the team to the playoffs in 2022. Seattle believes it can accomplish its 2025 goals at a price cheaper than what it would have cost to extend Smith.

Mack is one of the most revered and trusted leaders in the Chargers’ locker room. He was paramount in Jim Harbaugh building his culture in Los Angeles last season. That was certainly part of the Chargers’ commitment to bringing back Mack and getting this deal done before the edge rusher hit free agency for the first time in his career.

He missed the first 13 games in 2024, then lasted only 34 snaps before calf and knee injuries in the same leg ended his season.

But in those 34 snaps Greenlaw was downright dominant, flying around the field and delivering punishing blows to ball carriers (and blockers). At his best, he’s a top-five linebacker with a complete skill set and a tone-setter for any defense. Unless concerns about his knee or calf persist, Greenlaw should be in high demand. The question is whether durability concerns will limit his suitors or bring the price tag down.

He can be a bit boom-or-bust against the run, and there's some risk here given his age, but he should draw plenty of interest.

First, Allen was one of the best players remaining on the market. Second, he is a longtime captain and former Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, known to enhance a locker room. And third, head coach Kevin O’Connell had familiarity with him from his time in Washington.

He is also a much better blocker than you’d expect for a converted wideout, showing great play strength and competitiveness.

Johnson could have several suitors, perhaps including the coach who signed him out of college, Sean Payton.

They basically would’ve had no one at tight end if he had signed elsewhere, especially with Taysom Hill sustaining a torn ACL late last season. Johnson has come a long way. Injuries have been a concern throughout his career, but he’s been productive when available.

Even with retaining Johnson, though, the viability of the Saints’ 2025 offense is a major question for Kellen Moore after several years of regression following Drew Brees’ retirement and Sean Payton’s departure.

Once the Kansas City Chiefs franchise-tagged Trey Smith, the Vikings viewed Fries as one of the premier guards who would be available. Pairing him with Ryan Kelly, one of his close friends and former teammates, is a bonus.

Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen had plenty of time to watch film of Dalman the past few seasons when he was in the NFC South running the Saints defense and could have used that experience to help in the evaluation.

He has never been afraid to tackle, and Flores has not shied away from blitzing him off the edge.

Health will be the key. Bosa could immediately supplant A.J. Epenesa as a starter, but limiting his reps to keep him healthy for the playoffs might be wise.

Quite frankly, this deal is a steal for Detroit. Onwuzurike ranked top 15 among all DTs in pass-rush win rate and pressures last season — easily the best of his career. Perhaps his injury history played more of a factor in his market than expected.

In the end, this is great news for the Lions. They keep a talented young interior pass rusher for another year, and Onwuzurike has another year to secure a long-term contract.

Nobody thinks this guy is legit, huh? It took a little while, but Dowdle emerged as the Cowboys’ bell cow down the stretch, averaging 20 carries and 97 yards rushing over the last seven games.

He runs with some violence, and his 53.6 percent rushing success rate was the sixth-best in the NFL in 2024. He doesn’t turn 27 until June and has very little wear and tear (331 career carries). And yet here we are down in Tier 6.

The Chiefs’ initial plan for free agency was to try to convince Ronnie Stanley to leave the Ravens to help protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Stanley, however, re-signed with Baltimore, forcing the Chiefs to pivot to acquiring Moore, who they see as an underrated and ascending player.

At age 27, Moore will become a first-time starter and have the role of protecting the blind side of Mahomes, the league’s most talented quarterback. The Chiefs are optimistic that Moore is ready for that responsibility after being a four-year understudy behind Trent Williams, one of the league’s best left tackles. In the past two seasons, Moore has played 279 pass-blocking snaps and has allowed just two sacks.

Last season, under coordinator Jesse Minter, no team in the NFL played more zone coverage than the Chargers, according to TruMedia. Jackson has 13 interceptions and 36 passes defended in zone coverage in his career. In man, he has two interceptions and eight passes defended.

The Chargers signed Kristian Fulton as a reclamation project last offseason, and he played well in Minter’s zone-heavy scheme. The Chargers will be looking for similar results with Jackson.

This move likely won’t prevent the Steelers from dipping into a deep and talented running back draft class, where they might find their next true lead back.

He excels most as a pass catcher, becoming a big-play threat and matchup weapon (go rewatch the Lions game) at times for the Bills, even though starter James Cook is no slouch as a receiver. Johnson could stand to be more consistent in protection, but he could impress in a larger role.

The 2025 season will be Robinson's 10th in the NFL. He'll also have to work through continued legal issues after his arrest for driving under the influence this season (the Rams did not suspend him).
