Cassian Andor has returned to screens on Disney+ in the Star Wars spinoff show Andor. Diego Luna has captured the essence of the role perfectly, just as he did for Rogue One. While the actor may forever be associated with the Rebel spy, his filmography spans multiple other successful films and TV shows.

Outside of the galaxy far, far away, Luna has continued to thrive on screen. Rotten Tomatoes has compiled a list of his greatest work, each of which demonstrates yet another talent that Luna has in his back pocket, which signifies why he's such a great performer across many genres.
Andor (2022) - 89%
Andor is the latest adventure for fans of the Star Wars universe and Luna is firmly in the driver's seat as the titular Cassian. While the show is still in its earliest stages, it's already impressing fans and critics alike, with its compelling blend of action and espionage.

It's a slow burner compared to some other projects from the franchise, but Luna completely excels, embodying every aspect of the character perfectly. It would be easy for the pace to halt the momentum of the show, but Luna's compelling performance continues to draw in viewers as he cements the legacy of this relatively new rebel.
Blood Father (2016) - 89%
Blood Father is a perfect representation of an '80s action movie star hitting the right balance of nostalgia and modern storytelling in cinema today. Starring Mel Gibson, the movie sees the actor portray an ex-convict, who rescues his daughter from her drug-dealing boyfriend, as they go on the run.
Luna is that boyfriend in question, Jonah. Threatening and vicious, while Luna has showcased his capability to be a charming leading man, it's impressive how quickly he can switch that side of his performance off, in favor of something genuinely chilling at times.

Narcos: Mexico (2018-2021) - 90%
The original Narcos was one of Netflix's most well-received shows, with the life of Pablo Escobar unfolding on screen. Narcos: Mexico looked to continue the legacy of the original, with a brand-new crime lord in the hot seat. It doesn't shy away from the brutality and conspiracy at the heart of the drug trade in Mexico during the 1980s.
Luna plays Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, the leader of the Guadalajara Cartel and one of the most significant forces in the drug trade during the time period. Much like Blood Father, the range of Luna in the role is genuinely impressive as his anger, charisma, and intelligent tactical thinking all boil to the surface.

Y Tu Mamá También (2001) - 92%

It's also the release that gave Luna a chance to truly show his skills, with the actor portraying Tenoch Iturbide, one of the 17-year-olds that embark on this journey of self-discovery. There's an authenticity to the performance that still sets this as one of the best movies in the genre, of all time.
Abel (2010) - 93%

Luna doesn't need any more praise for his acting, considering his archive of films speaks for itself. But despite the talent in the field, he clearly felt as if he could contribute more to the industry. That's where Abel comes in, which is an intriguing addition to his body of work.
Abel was both written and directed by Luna, and it continues to be one of the greatest movies he's been involved with. It's an emotionally complex but relatively simple story that focuses on a young boy whose father leaves, forcing the child to try and assume the role of man of the house. It's another indication that Luna thrives in the coming-of-age genre.
Milk (2008) - 93%

There is a limited range of LGBTQ+ biographical movie releases out there, and Milk is one that helped to define the genre. Harvey Milk, portrayed by Sean Penn, was a real-world campaigner, who became one of the United States' first openly gay men elected into a notable role in public life.
Milk faced a tragic end, murdered by Dan White, who is played by Josh Brolin. Luna enters the scene as Jack Lira, an activist in his own right and a lover of Harvey Milk. His role in the production shouldn't be underestimated, with Luna only elevating this vitally important retelling.
If Beale Street Could Talk (2015) - 95%
James Baldwin's novel, If Beale Street Could Talk, deserved an adaptation that was as equally complex and moving as its source material. Set in 1970s Harlem, the story follows a young couple who are ripped apart by a crime that was never committed.

I Stay With You (2014) - 100%
The Spanish-language film I Stay With You doesn't feature Luna in any kind of leading role. However, even contributing a small part to the film continues to mark it as a proud achievement in his filmography, as Luna plays Esteban, the filmmaking boyfriend of lead Beatriz Arjona. The movie is a comedy and drama with an unexpected twist.

It features a bachelorette party that goes horribly wrong after a prank quickly turns violent. Often described as scandalous or genre-defying, the piece is yet another example of the experimental projects Luna continues to hone his craft within.
Maya And The Three (2021) 100%
Maya and the Three is already such a beloved animated series that has defined what can be achieved on streaming services within the medium. From the mind of Jorge R. Gutierrez, the series embraces its unique representation of Mexican culture, as a young princess embarks on a quest to save Earth from the gods.
Luna is back to his villainous ways, as he plays Zatz, the Prince of Bats, who is gifted a redemptive character arc that takes advantage of the talent's voice acting abilities. The unpredictable Zatz even becomes a love interest to Maya, with Luna getting to show off the full spectrum of human emotion through the demigod in spectacular fashion.

Wizards (2020) 100%
Luna's talents in the realm of voice acting also extends to one of DreamWorks' most successful franchises. The Arcadia universe has expanded far beyond the initial release, and while Luna reprises his role across multiple projects, Wizards is still the best.
Luna plays Krel Tarron, the Prince and a leading protagonist in the series. The character's importance only increases with time and although another actor gets a brief go with the part (Sebastian Lopez Hinton), it's Luna who has brought the voice and heart to Krel.
